WCB Claimant Sentenced in Fraud Conviction
Regina – A former laborer was sentenced May 3 in Saskatoon Provincial Court for defrauding the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB).
The former claimant pled guilty to going back to work while still receiving income replacement. He was given a 12 month Conditional Discharge and 30 hours community service. The fraud amount has been reimbursed to the WCB.
The WCB has a responsibility to safeguard the workers’ compensation system. It relies on workers, employers, and caregivers to accurately report injuries, employment activities, payroll, and medical treatment.
