A Significant Milestone Reached and a Little History Made
A significant milestone was reached and a little history was made at the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association annual general meeting. Sweeping changes were made to SCSA bylaws, the board structure, its composition and its size. These decisions came via a unanimous vote. The new bylaws replace the original bylaws that have been in place since the organization’s inception. They reflect the most modern governance practices and ensure full compliance with the Non-Profit Corporations Act.
The SCSA governance model was such that the SCSA had 34 positions that would comprise its board of directors. The membership voted to reduce this number and will now run with a 12-member board. As a 12-person board, 10 positions will be comprised of a cross-section of the key segments of the construction industry, with a balance of employer and worker representation. Up to two additional appointments can be made by the board at the board’s discretion for strategic purposes, or to address any gaps it feels it has.
