2018 Saskatchewan Construction Week

The next Saskatchewan Construction Week - April 11-17, 2018 - will celebrate the important economic and social contributions made by the province's second-largest private sector employer.


  • 11,000 Businesses in Saskatchewan’s construction sector (2017).
  • 56,000 Number of people employed in Saskatchewan's construction sector — more than manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and forestry combined (2017).
  • $2.5 Billion in estimated wages and salaries paid by Saskatchewan companies for both conventional and heavy construction to employees in 2017.
  • 11 percent of provincial payroll comes from the Saskatchewan construction industry.
  • $2 Billion worth of building permits issued in 2017 — approximately 47 per cent commercial and 53 per cent residential.
  • 10,100 Number of people expected to enter the trades in Saskatchewan in the next 10 years.
  • 8,180 Registered apprentices as of June 2017.


Signature Events

Inclusive Day

This unique event brings together organizations who provide opportunities to anyone considering a career in the construction industry. An audience made up of high school students, apprentices in training, First Nations students, and young women in the Women in Trades & Technology program will receive presentations from SATCC, past Skills Competition participants, and engage in a lively speed-networking activity with industry mentors. A tour of the Skills Competition will follow.

Deputy Ministers Dinner
