SCSA Supports Girls Exploring Trades and Technology (GETT)
Last week girls from grade six to eight attended SaskPower sponsored trades and technology camps at Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the SCSA was there! Girls Exploring Trades and Technology (GETT) camps provided participants with a safe, supportive environment to explore the tools, equipment and skills needed for a trades and technology career.
GETT participants were taught axle building, carpentry, computer design skills and the importance of working safely as they created and assembled scooters.
SCSA Advisors, Natalia Prokopetz and Riley Hancock, were in attendance to kick off the week with an extended Toolbox Talk. The safety presentation included information on hearing protection and head, eye and glove demonstrations.
Natalia and Riley received this note from Michelle Lanoie, Coordinator Women in Trades and Technology Program, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Regina Campus, “Thank-you again for coming to the camp on Monday and giving the safety demos and presentation. Many of the girls went home discussing with their parents what they saw and heard that morning!” To view photos of the event, click here.
