RESOURCE: Young and Young Worker Safety Orientation
The SCSA partnered with Safe Saskatchewan, WorkSafe Saskatchewan, WCB, and its sister safety associations, to develop a resource guide for employers to help them achieve Mission: Zero. The Young and New Worker Orientation resource educates new and young workers about workplace safety. Research indicates that 6,000 workers under the age of 25 are injured on the job each year.
This resource provides employers with a customizable checklist of workplace safety measures, including an explanation of their legal obligation to provide a healthy and safe work environment. It also encourages the employer to communicate the three rights of every worker (Right to Know the safety hazards; the Right to Participate in occupational health and safety activities; and the Right to Refuse dangerous work) to new and young hires.
