Certificate of Recognition Updates

New COR Standard

Effective January 1, 2023

Continuous improvement is a cornerstone of the COR® program. In this spirit, the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations (CFCSA) agreed to create a new COR® standard, resulting in the addition of a new section.

The update concerns Procurement and Contractor Management. View here

A new harmonized audit tool has been designed to include:
  • Contractor verification questions moved to Section 14
  • Questions on procurement of goods and services that have the potential to create a hazard
  • Changes to scoring, audit questions and interview questions on some elements
  • Partial points can now be awarded for some questions

The SCSA audit tool will be fully implemented at the beginning of 2023 and will be available on the Resources page. It will be used for all COR® external and internal audits, NCSO/NHSA maintenance audits, and self-audits.

New guidelines clarify the criteria for awarding possible points. It is important for all auditors to follow these guidelines.

Companies who have COR® accreditation in more than one province will find it easier to maintain COR® certification as well as seek equivalency in other provinces.
